Ted Frecka (Sr. Associate, CFA) gave a presentation entitled “What I’ve Learned about Valuation that They Don’t Teach You in School” to MBA and MSA students in the Financial Instruments and Fair Value Reporting class. Topics covered included quantifying discounts for lack of control and marketability, the option pricing method for allocating equity in companies with complex capital structures, and real-world examples of valuations of common equity, preferred equity, plain vanilla debt, distressed debt, and convertible debt.
